Colin Handley
Principal of Stunt Academy
Colin
Handley started getting involved with stunts from
a young age when as a gymnast, he would create many
different moves to entertain spectators. Colin took
to martial arts when he was only 7 years old and continued
training until he became 9 times National Blackbelt
Champion.
His
martial arts career took him all over the world and
his achievements include Gold Medalist at the Pacific
Taekwondo Championships, Silver medalist at the Asian
Taekwondo Championships and undefeated champion in
the Martial Arts League.
In
1984 Colin went to Hollywood to become a stuntman.
He was fortunate enough to work with many famous action
stars such as Swartzenegger, Stallone, Van Damme to
name a few. He specialized in fights, falls and car
hits and was carving quite a career for himself.
On
returning to Australia to train for the 1988 Olympics,
Colin decided to stay and pursue his movie career
there. After a string of roles at Warner Studios,
he saw the need for a well planned and organized Stunt
Training Academy for people like himself who wanted
to become Stunt Performers and needed a start. So
in 1996 the Stunt Academy was founded.
His
desire to become a serious actor, lead to many speaking
parts including a starring role in the action telemovie,
Casino Reef.
Colin
decided that he would take his career into his own
hands and combine his talents, the stunt academy's
resources and the world's growing demand for product
and start producing action television shows.
Between
running the Academy, movie roles, producing telemovies
and his martial arts school, Colin has an active life
that many of us would only dream of.

Stunt
Academy Films is a Production Company which is focused
on creating, producing and distributing Action Films,
Television Series, Documentaries and Exercise Videos
for International release. Linked with a US Based
Distribution Company, Stunt Academy Films is based
on the Gold Coast in Australia, just minutes from
Warner Studios, tropical beaches, rain forests, exotic
waterfalls, rivers and modern townships.
Stunt
Academy Films has a pool of incredibly talented producers,
directors, DOP's, cameramen, researchers, casting
personnel and all related crews.

Meet
the man who does stunts for Arnold Schwarzenegger
and Sylvester Stallone.
As
Indian cinema gathers more international attention,
no wonder you see professionals from all over the
world making their way to the subcontinent with lucrative
offers.
That’s
what Colin Handley, principal of the Stunt Academy
from Very Gold Coast, Australia, is here for. “The
main focus of my visit is to highlight the different
services that we can offer in terms of stunt services
and film co-ordination,” says Handley, who has
been in Hollywood as a stunt man and worked with action
stars such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone
and Jean-Claude Van Damme.
“Indian
films have always been rich in dance and music –
a quality that has been catching the attention of
the rest of the world. That gives out a very strong
export quality for these movies,” says Handley.
Ask
him about his experiences with Hollywood actions stars
(in films like ‘Commando’ and ‘Rocky
IV’) and Handley shoots, “Arnold is great
to work with. He is very confident and at the same
time very casual about his stunts. Stallone, on the
other hand, is very professional. His capability of
doing so many things at a time is amazing.”
