Lydia Leong

Lydia Leong

JamuAustralia designer and owner

JamuAustralia has a vision - to offer women the ultimate choice in their swimwear through mixing separates and fabrics that ultimately reflects who they are. As such, each Jamu line is designed to reflect a certain mood which is the basis of our design philosophy. Jamu's dream concept was realized by swim fashionista and creative director, Lydia Leong, who struggled to find the right swimwear style that, fitted, flattered and was fashionable.

While Lydia had been contemplating the concept for JamuAustralia for a few years, she only commenced designing and setting up the workshop and retail outlet in Brisbane on a full time basis in October 2005. Prior to this, Lydia worked in aid and development for nearly 11 years, responsible for projects in countries including the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Cambodia.

Lydia’s fresh approach as an emerging designer, coupled with the use of technology to give women confidence and choice in obtaining perfectly fitting swimwear through the “made2order” buying concept has captured media interest and attention not only in Brisbane but throughout Australia. Lydia’s ambition is to be an internationally recognised fashion swimwear designer, and to clearly position south-east Queensland as a key incubator for swimwear designers in Australia.
