SYDNEY
TEAM FOR V8 SUPER CAR CHAMPIONSHIP
Walden Motorsport Pty Ltd has purchased a majority
share holding in Romano Racing Pty Ltd & will
be moving the operation to western Sydney so that
Sydney once again will have a team in the V8 Supercar
Championship Series to call there own.
The
deal between Romano & Walden was completed on
Friday the 22nd of December for the main game, &
now all they are waiting on is for TEGA to rubber
stamp the deal when they convene in January.
Walden
Motorsport competed in selected rounds of the 2004
V8 Supercar Championship, with Garth Walden putting
in some fine performances in an outdated AU Ford Falcon.
Since
the 2004 season, Walden had made a name for himself
as an engineer, working with Aaron Carati in 2005
when the West Australian won the CAMS Australian Drivers
Gold Star Championship.
The
only other team in recent times to run in the main
game, was Tasman Motorsport ex Lansvale Smash Repairs,
but they relocated to Melbourne.
Team
spokesperson Brian Walden, said they (team) were thrilled
to be back.
"Its
all pretty exciting really. While in Brisbane yesterday
we also organised a car from a strong team, and we'll
be making an announcement in January on that, plus
the make-up of the team, as well as our major naming
rights sponsor. We'll continue to run the team out
of our own workshop in Sydney's west near Silverdale,"
Brian Walden said.
"We
want the people of Sydney to get behind us next year,
and call it there car, because we are very proud to
live in the worlds best city," he said.
