I/V:
Dave Fernandes, Director, Creator & Designer,
Ripe Digital Design:
15th December 2003
What's your background?
I
studied Multimedia Production in Surry Hills before
landing a job as a web designer for a graphic design
company. During this time I have also built a reputation
as a designer outside the work environment working
on an array of jobs.
What
are your main solutions?
Primarily
web design followed by graphic design, logo design
and interactive design. I am also growing on all of
these plus more.
What
motivates you?
Art,
life, friends and music.
What
aspects of business do you find most challenging?
The
whole thing, that's why I do it.
What
are your future plans as a designer?
Future
plans as designer is to continue all my lines of work
with my own art direction, affiliating with other
groups such as photographers, film makers and writers
to together combine and showcase works.
Who
are your mentors?
My
mentors... well firstly I think the people at Australianinfront.com.au
for ever expanding digital design, Hi-Res from the
U.K and Michael Franti (although music related - he
has alot to say), and also Dave Taylor who spoke at
the Digit Conference earlier this year for his raw
and "no time for Tom Foolery" attitude.
What
makes a good designer?
I
think with understanding, flexibility, passion and
confidence you can overcome anything.
...end.
